Auditions
English Shorts.
We are excited to announce auditions for English Shorts, a collection of vibrant short plays to be staged at the 2025 Sawitri Shorts Theatre Festival.
Audition Date: Sunday, 22 Dec, 2024 at 12.00 pm to 2.00 pm (EST)
Callbacks: Between 4th to 14th Jan, 2025 (TBC )
Audition Location: AN1 Studios, Cawthra Rd Unit 132, Mississauga, ON L5A 3P2.
Who can audition?
- Casting is now open to individuals of all ages, genders, experience and abilities. We welcome performers from diverse backgrounds to participate. Fluency in English is essential.
- You must be available to rehearse upto 3 times a week (2 weekdays and Saturday) between Jan and April 2025.
- You must be available every day of the week tech week (21 – 25 April 2025) and performance day (26 April 2025)
All roles are non-union and non-paying. We want to build a cast that reflects diversity, facilitates positive change and allows for cultural fusion and experimentation. Do spread the word to those you think may be interested.
Do I have to prepare anything for my audition?
No. You don’t need to come prepared with a monologue—just bring your energy and enthusiasm! Participants will be required to read from sides provided on the day and engage in brief improvisation exercises.
How to apply!
Returning Performers: Actors who have performed in The Hive Performing Arts English plays during the 2023/24 season are not required to audition. You are only required to simply express interest and confirm the availability for the production by sending an email to info to info@thehiveperformingarts.com
New Performers: Email your interest along with a recent headshot/selfie and short bio / introduction to info@thehiveperformingarts.com
Only those shortlisted be will be contacted for an in-person audition slot on 22nd Dec 2024 . Once shortlisted, you’ll receive an email with further information about the production.
